The 21st Ward Theater Company is a brand new company performing plays in Gorgas Park in the Roxborough / Manayunk section of Philadelphia.
This weekend they will perform 3 short plays in Gorgas Park. Performances are Saturday, September 17th at 6pm and Sunday, September 18th at 2pm.
The Rainbow
Two strangers meet for a picnic — sans their mutual friend — using a certain book to find each other. Together, they try to figure out what might still be possible.
The Rainbow premiered at the American Globe Theatre and was later named as a finalist for the Actors Theatre of Louisville’s 2012 Heideman Award. It is anthologized in The Best American Short Plays: 2012-2013 published by Applause.
Hidden in this Picture
It’s the potential Academy Award-winning shot – will that still be the case when cows wander into the frame?
Hidden in This Picture is by Aaron Sorkin, the writer who brought you The West Wing, Jobs, Sports Night, and Newsroom.
Potato Salad
Celeste has a million things happening at once, the last thing she needed was for SEPTA to stop running.
Potato Salad is a new piece devised and written by company members.
This Sunday marks the 15th year since the horrific attacks on the United States by terrorists. In Gorgas Park, there will be a Candlelight Vigil and a Special Concert dedicated to the many Americans who lost their lives on that Fateful Day.
6pm – Candlelight Prayer Vigil at the World War 1 Monument hosted by the 21st Ward Veterans Association. Our Police and Fire Departments will also be honored.
7:15pm – Hooligans Irish Band Concert.
Note: Since 2001 – on September 11th a
Memorial Service and a Concert has been held in Gorgas Park. The purpose has been two-fold.
One- we remember the innocent victims who were killed on that day in New York City, in Washington and in a field in Pennsylvania. Those who died so needlessly live in our memories today. We do not forget.
Second – hosting a concert is an affirmation of the American Spirit. We celebrate in Gorgas Park as free men and women our rights and freedoms. We endure as strong as ever as a nation since the attacks in 2001.
Please come together with us in Gorgas Park this Sunday September 11th, 2016.
Thunderbus, pushing the boundaries of folk rock and bluegrass play this Tuesday before the movie at 6:45pm. The Rock Garden band will play a few songs too.

So look forward to a picnic atmosphere with the the usual refreshments people enjoy so much. Come early and enjoy the the cool refreshing summer breezes at Gorgas where free natural air-conditioning always blows and soothes.
